These adjacent vast tracts are open to the public, and, in short – this property adjoins more wild, beautiful country than you’ll ever need for hiking, bird watching, fishing, photography, snowshoeing, bushwhack skiing and wilderness classroom exploration.

For the past 15 years, adventure campers have enjoyed a web of mapped, marked and maintained hiking, mountain biking, snowshoeing and Nordic ski trails within the camp boundaries. There is also a Frisbee golf course, ball field, high and low ropes courses and an outpost camp besides the swimming area and many campfire rings including council fire settings. Popular day trips for the camp include canoeing, kayaking and fishing on these trout rivers: the Brule River, the Namekagon River and the White River (3 to 25 miles away). Lake Superior at Port Wing, WI, is only 34 miles north and the sea caves of Lake Superior at Cornucopia, WI, (kayak summers/ski or snowshoe winters) are about a 50-mile drive from the property.

There is a 4-bedroom, 2-story home with 2 fireplaces, 2 baths, and a 2-level screen porch that faces Black Bear Lake. The home received a new septic in 2006 and a new hot water LP furnace in 2008. Next to the home is a caretaker's cottage and garage. Storage outbuildings include a large storage barn with a deluxe workshop, a beach storage shed and various equipment sheds.

There are 12 cabins that have a combined capacity of 108 persons. The comfortable cabins are arranged in groups. Many overlook Black Bear Lake, and some have lake view screen porches. Most are heated with wall furnaces. One cabin is off-the-grid and has a wood stove. Cabins share a shower/bath building. There is a dining hall with a commercial kitchen, fireplace and lakeside dining deck. There is a meeting hall (great as classroom building) with a pergola that leads to a large, open-wall porch (nice for outdoor lectures & story telling), a game building, lighted pathways and plenty of parking with room for buses.
